View Full Version : What can we do to make visiting better?

Hi community,

As SWAT 4 is a dated game, we are anticipating the release of "Ready or Not" which we aim to support from the start.

However, in the meantime, how do we make visiting |SOG| a better experience and destination?

What would YOU visit the website more frequently for?

Please let us know your thoughts.

This could be;

- Daily news & weather
- Gallery
- Upload section
- Better forum experience
- More arcade games

We look forward to hearing your views :)

Joining here just to have fun in game. And I do enjoy it very much. But... and I dont really like showing people their flaws. But in this community you have too little active SOG members that is just sad. We cant even organise VIP sessions anymore! As just few comin and we have to wait for public players to start. This is the core of community - its members. If you dont give a flag about it and dont join games here and there, community will fall apart. I know its sux to hear but this is how I see the main problem. Hopefully Ready or not will bring that spark back.

Agreed. Biggest issue in any clan/community. The activity of members ingame.

I personally strive to play at least minimum of weekly. That point however I feel will never improve in a community that has many older members who now have very different lives than back in 2006. Furthermore SWAT4 is a dated game not all enjoy like I do....

I think it is a very valid point. One I wish I could solve :)

Guilty on all charges. Between not having access to my original disks, not feeling like messing around for the custom server list.. and just generally not being in the mood for slow shooters really I've not come around to game.

I have, however, been lurking the forums daily.

Hello everyone,

Indeed, you are all right. Most clans suffer or atleast experience the same issue. With my old WC3 Clan coming to "practice sessions" was always something that started an hour later than planned or got cancelled because of attendency of members.

Anyway...

Yesterday I played like 4 or 5 rounds on the TSS Coop Server and after 10 years I enjoyed it much, even though I got rusty :P
Castner had some problems with the game and its settings as we all have had, but we managed to play a game toghether. :)

What do you guys think of doing 1 day per week or maybe 1 week per month like lets play Arma3 or something else?
People could vote what current coop/multiplayer game they'd like to play together with SOG?
Like a rotating special menue in some restaurants? Spanish, italian and so on to keep things fresh.
Maybe ppl would visit more often too see whats next and to be part of the selection process and ofc join us in gaming?

I know that there are some questions and stuff to be worked out, but there are many good f2p shooters/games or the ones which cost less than 10€ ...

Just a thought or brain storrming, maybe others have thought of it too.

Best regards
Fenix

Happy to, I enjoy playing with our SOG members in SWAT, and therefore I am sure I would in other games too.

I do fancy a game of Unreal Tournament after someone mentioned it the other day :)

When I am back from holiday, will look forward next week to playing with you again mate!

Unreal Tournament, sounds good and is quite the opposite of SWAT 4.
But I'm in.
Looking forward to some games m8.

Unfortunately I do not have those.

Right now, the current UT game is in pre-aplha and its free to play:

Did you guys try this one?
It reminds me alot of the original.

Theres Unreal Tournament: Game of the Year Edition on Steam for 9,99€. Not much but a awsome game. Loved that game back in the time.

Would be great to play it again.

Iv been playing a lot of quake II when I had my first LAN connection. Would be cool to try something like that again and take a rest from all those tactical games :)

I have played all of them, but I have to agree with Sander here:

UT2004 is in my mind still the best version :p

UT2k4 was the best one in the series. It has all the new goodies introduced in 2003, but runs on a upgraded engine, has loads of extra content and is overall more polished. The one of the new gamemodes, Onslaught, is one of my all time favorites in the series.

EDIT:
But to return and comment on the gist of recent posts: Yeah, playing some other games with people I know from SOG would be fun. I'm not sure organizing it in great detail would help adoption, but for some people it might help to allow meeting up at the same time.

I didn't originally respond to Matt's post since when I thought about it, there isn't a great deal that can be done by SOG leadership to make visiting better except connecting people and allowing us to have fun together, as was already stated in other posts.

Have to keep your tags visible in the server in order keep relevant in a game. I understand how old this game is, believe me, but there are still good players that are not associated with any tagged team. These players already have the correct mindset you are looking for and will probably jump to RoN once released and apply for membership. Unless the team is highly visible in servers, it's harder to recruit. Potential recruits, the good ones, need to see how your play style is before they apply.

I suggest a duty roster, where members are either viewing through the web admin (making their presence known by chatting with the players in the servers), or being in the servers playing and building relationships. You have the basic elements of it. Column 1 server name, Columns 2 through 25 are the hours of the day. Color in the blocks with the names of the members that will either be web admin or playing written as text over the color. Color code that anyway you like: blue for in server, green for web admin, red as yet unfilled/available time. Let members edit the page so the roster is up to date. Post the roster so that community members that would like to meet you, know when you are available.

There are many SOG members I have not played games with or chatted with because I simply don't know when they are around.

I would also reduce the number of servers you are running. It's cool to have 6 or 8 servers, but you don't have the juice to cover them. Jessica is not a real person and she's doing all the work. Unfortunately, she doesn't recruit for you. Let's be honest, the servers are empty most of the time anyway. Decide which servers are you focused on. Is it Pro, Pro House, and VIP?? With few active members, it's easier to cover fewer servers.

These players know others that perhaps don't play SWAT, but will certainly play RoN. How you treat them and how visible you are will lead to decisions being made about where they will come to play RoN. Then you will grow quickly.
